| Dress Code, Cell Phones: | Competitors must be neat in appearance and wear appropriate attire. No gym shorts, cutoffs, blue jeans, tee shirts, etc. Shorts must be Bermuda length. Use of cell phones is prohibited on course during competition. Important Note: Santa Maria GC is a spikeless facility and all competitors will be required to wear spikeless shoes. |
| Eligibility: | Entries are open to any male, Louisiana resident (as of at least 90 days prior to the Championship) who is an amateur golfer (as defined by the USGA) holding membership in a LGA member club in good standing (2009 club and individual dues must be paid). Participants must have an approved USGA Handicap Index, not greater than 36.4, as of the 5/1/09 revision. Participants must provide their LGA Handicap Network number or provide written noticfication of their approved Index (i.e., handicap card) if not a LGA Handicap Network participant. Non-amateurs are not eligible. Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the Championship) by the LGA. Reasons for rejection may include unbecoming conduct. |
| Entry Deadline/Applications: | All entrants must file an entry by 5 P.M., Tuesday, May 5, 2009. Entries must be filed online, via mail, or delivery to LGA office. Online applications can be completed at www.LGAgolf.org. Note: Entry deadline is May 5, 2009, 5 PM, or until full field is reached before May 5. Entrants are cautioned that the event could fill up before May 5. Time limit for entry means time of receipt at LGA office, not time entries are sent to LGA. Entries should be submitted early to allow ample time for delay or error in transmission. The risk of delay or error in transmission lies solely with the entrant and the LGA shall have no liability with respect to any such delay or error and the consequenses therefrom, including rejection of the entry. Late or incomplete entries are not acceptable. Entries by FAX, telephone, or telegraph are not acceptable. Entry fee must accompany application for application to be considered complete. |
| Entry Fee. Withdrawal/Refunds: | Entry fee of $150, which includes cart and range fees for practice round and tournament play. Entry fee will be refunded regardless of reason if LGA office is notified, in writing, before the close of entries. After the close of entries, fee will be refunded only in the event of injury or illness provided notification (accompanied by a doctor’s statement) reaches LGA office by May 15, 2009. A $30 service charge will be deducted from all refunds. |
| Field/Format: | Limited to the first 144 competitors. Play will consist of 36 holes net stroke play. Field will be divided into flights based on USGA Handicap Indexes. Number of flights determined by size of field. The Overall Champion may come from any flight and will be the competitor that returns the low 36 hole net score. Scores will be calculated by subtracting COURSE HANDICAP from GROSS SCORE. |
| Handicap, Handicap Adjustments | USGA Handicap Indexes must by computed through USGA licensed clubs as of the 5/1/09 revision. The Committee, in addressing the manipulation of handicaps, may retroactively adjust Handicap Indexes after one or up to all rounds for scores that exceed normal probability. The current USGA Handicap System Manual will be used to adjust handicaps as the need arises (see entry form and LGA policy paper on adjustment of handicaps for further details). |
| Net Club Team Championship: | Participants may also elect to play in the concurrent Net Club Team Championship. Teams shall consist of four members of the same LGA Member Club or Association. Club's Team score shall be calculated by counting the best three of four scores for each day's play. Winning Club will be determined by low total after 36 holes and will receive Club Team Championship trophy (Club may be represented by only three members but three scores must be counted per day). Scores will be calculated by subtracting COURSE HANDICAP from GROSS SCORE. No additional entry fee for Net Club Team competition. Clubs may be represented by more than one four-man team. |
| Practice Privileges: | Practice privileges are extended to participants in the Championship at Santa Maria GC on Friday, May 15. Cart fee paid by LGA. |
| Prizes: | Individual Overall Champion will receive Crystal Trophy signifying 2009 LGA Net Amateur Championship. Net Club Team Champion will also receive Crystal Trophy signifying 2009 Net Club Team Champion Team. Individual Flight winners will also receive crystal prizes. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each flight. |
| Rules of Golf: | Play will be governed by the 2008-09 USGA Rules of Golf and the current LGA Rules of Play Card. All questions will be settled by the LGA Rules Committee, whose decision will be final. Important Note: A Rules Meeting and Hamburger cookout will be held for the participants Friday night, May 15, 7:30 PM, at Santa Maria GC. All competitors are strongly encouraged to attend. |
