University Club leads incomplete first round of Louisiana Golf Association Club Team Championship

Baton Rouge's University Club shot a 11-under par 131 to lead The Farm d'Allie Golf Club of Lafayette by three shots heading into final round play at the 2009 LGA Club Team Championship at Tamahka Trails Golf Club in Marksville.

The University Club was anchored by the father-son team of Jim (father) and Ben (son) Adams with an eight-under par 63.  Other University Club scores were Scott Haynie and Frank Schroeder (68) and Michael Gaudin and Scott Freeland (69).  Saturday's play counted the best 2 of 3 Four-Ball scores as the Club Team score for the day, giving the University Club a total of 11-under 131.

Third place fell to OakWing Golf Club of Alexandria with a seven-under 135.

Play was suspended at 5 PM as a strong thunderstorm set in over Marksville.  Teams that were not able to complete their round will return at 7:30 AM on Sunday.  The leaders are scheduled to go off at 12:00, 12:10, and 12:20 PM on Sunday.
