Overall Championship will be conducted at 54 holes (August 14-16). Additionally, three Age-Group Championships will be conducted at 36 holes (August 14-15) as follows: 1. Ages 60-64, 2. Ages 65-69, and 3. Ages 70 & Over. Same eligibility rules as stated in eligibility section. Age-Groups 60-64 and 65-69 will play from the same tees as the Overall Championship and will compete concurrently in the Overall Championship. Age-Group 70 & Over will play from forward tees and, consequently, will compete only in their Age-Group Championship.

Dress Code, Cell Phones:

Competitors must be neat in appearance and wear appropriate attire. No gym shorts, cutoffs, blue jeans, tee shirts, etc. Shorts must be Bermuda length. Use of cell phones is prohibited on course during competition. Important Note: Farm d'Allie GC is a spikeless facility and all competitors will be required to wear spikeless shoes.

Eligibility:

Entries are open to any Louisiana resident (as of at least 90 days prior to the Championship) who is an amateur golfer (as defined by the USGA) holding membership in a LGA member club in good standing (2008 club and individual dues must be paid; club must be a part of the LGA Handicap Network or have USGA Handicap System Compliance Verification form on file in LGA office). Entrants must be 50 years of age by midnight, August 14, 2008, and possess a certified USGA Handicap Index of 15.0 or less. See above for Age-Group Championships. Non-amateurs are not eligible. Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the Championship) by the LGA. Reasons for rejection may include unbecoming conduct.

Entry Deadline/Applications:

All entrants must file an entry by 5 PM, Tuesday, August 5, 2008. Entries must be filed online, via mail, or delivery to LGA office. Online applications can be completed at www.LGAgolf.org. Note: Entry deadline is August 5, 2008, 5 PM, or until full field is reached before August 5. Seniors are cautioned that the event could fill up before August 5. Time limit for entries means time of receipt at LGA office, not time entry is sent to LGA. Entries should be submitted early to allow ample time for delay or error in transmission. The risk of delay or error in transmission lies solely with the entrant and the LGA will have no liability with respect to any such delay or error and the consequences therefrom, including rejection of the entry. Late or incomplete applications are not acceptable. Entries by FAX, telephone, or telegraph are not acceptable. Entry fee must accompany application for application to be considered complete.

Entry Fee, Withdrawal/Refunds:

Entry fee of $175 ($150 for those competing in 70 & Over Age-Group Championship), which includes cart fee for practice round and tournament play. Entry fee will be refunded regardless of reason if LGA office is notified, in writing, before the close of entries. After the close of entries, fee will be refunded only in the event of injury or illness provided notification (accompanied by a doctor's statement) reaches LGA office by August 13, 2008.  A $35 service charge will be deducted from all refunds. Pairings and starting times will be Emailed to each accepted entry on or about August 8, 2008.

Field/Format:

Limited to the first 156 entries. All competitors will play 36 holes (August 14-15) with the Overall Championship field cut to the 60 lowest scorers and ties for final 18 holes (third round/August 16).

Practice Privileges:

Practice privileges are extended to participants in the Championship at Farm d'Allie GC on August 13.  Cart fee paid by LGA.

Prizes:

Trophies will be awarded to the top five finishers in the Overall Championship and the top two finishers in the Age-group Championships. The Senior Amateur Champion also is extended an invitation to participate in the 2008 Louisiana Cup Matches.

Rules of Golf:

Play will be governed by the 2008-09 USGA Rules of Golf and the current LGA Rules of Play Card. All questions will be settled by the LGA Rules Committee, whose decision will be final.
