Mid-Amateur Championship

The LGA Tournament Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and schedules herein. The decision of the Tournament Committee in any matter will be final.

Competitors must be neat in appearance and wear appropriate attire. No gym shorts, cutoffs, blue jeans, tee shirts, etc. Shorts must be Bermuda length. Use of cell phones is prohibited on course during competition.  Important Note: Ellendale Country Club is a spikeless facility and all competitors will be required to wear spikeless shoes.

Entries are open to any Louisiana resident (as of at least 90 days prior to August 1, 2008) who is an amateur golfer (as defined by the USGA) holding membership in a LGA member club in good standing (2008 club and individual dues must be paid; club must be a part of the LGA Handicap Network or have USGA Handicap System Compliance Verification form on file in LGA office).

Entrants must be 25 years of age by midnight, August 1, 2008, and possess a certified USGA Handicap Index of 8.0 or less. Non-amateurs are not eligible. Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the Championship) by the LGA. Reasons for rejection may include unbecoming conduct.

All Entrants, qualifying or exempt, must file an entry by 5 P.M., Tuesday, June 24.  Entries must be filed online, via mail or delivery to LGA office.  Online entry applications can be completed at www.LGAgolf.org.  Late or incomplete applications are not acceptable. (Entries by FAX, telephone, or telegraph are not acceptable)

Time limit for entries means time of receipt at LGA office, not time entries are sent to LGA. Entries should be submitted early to allow ample time for delay or error in transmission. The risk of delay or error in transmission lies solely with the entrant and the LGA shall have no liability with respect to any such delay or error and the consequences therefrom, including rejection of the entry.

All entrants must file an entry prior to deadline, including exempt players. Entry deadline is June 24, 2008, at 5 P.M.

All entrants, including exempt players, shall apply on LGA forms obtainable from LGA member clubs, LGA's website at www.LGAgolf.org, and at LGA office.

Entry fee of $200.  Entry fee must accompany application to be considered complete. There are no additional fees.  Entry fee will be refunded regardless of reason if LGA office is notified, in writing, before the close of entries. After the close of entries, fee will be refunded only in the event of injury or illness provided notification (accompanied by doctor's statement) reaches LGA office by July 31, 2008. $40 service charge will be deducted from all refunds.

SCHEDULE: Competition will be over 54 holes (3 days x 18 holes/day).

A field of 144 players will be accepted.

Friday, August 1/First Round, 18 holes; Saturday, August 2/Second Round, 18 holes (60 lowest scorers and ties will continue play August 3; remainder eliminated after 36 holes).

Sunday, August 3/Final Round, 18 holes.

Lowest scorer for 54 holes will be 2008 LGA Mid-Amateur Champion.

Practice privileges are extended to participants in Championship Round play at Ellendale Country Club on July 31. Cart fee paid by LGA.

Gift Certificates will be awarded to the top 10 finishers in the Championship. The Mid-Amateur Champion will also receive a Crystal Trophy signifying the 2008 Mid-Amateur Championship. In case of a tie for the Championship, a sudden death playoff will take place immediately upon conclusion of play on Sunday.  The top four finishers will receive invitations to participate in the 2008 Louisiana Cup Matches. 

Play will be governed by the 2008-09 USGA Rules of Golf and the current LGA Rules of Play Card. All questions will be settled by the LGA Rules Committee, whose decision will be final.
