Press Release Contact: Michael Walder For Immediate Release LAFAYETTE'S HEBERT MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE MOUNTS A FINAL ROUND CHARGE TO CAPTURE 2006 LOUISIANA GOLF ASSOCIATION CLUB TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP April 23, 2006 Zachary, Louisiana The team from Hebert Municipal Golf Course in Lafayette overcame a three-shot deficit on Sunday to capture the 18th edition of the Louisiana Golf Association Club Team Championship. Hebert shot six-under par on the day en route to a seven-shot victory and their first LGA Club Team title. The team was paced by Thad Weber (69), James Hamilton (70), and Todd Weber (70) who all shot under par on the day. James Hamilton and Ted Weber each carded rounds of 73 and David Duhon posted a 78. Playing in the groups in front of the first-round leaders of Copper Mill Golf Club (Zachary) and Ellendale Country Club (Houma), the Lafayette squad was able to put together a number of solid rounds that held up to the finish. Finishing the championship at 10-under par and in second place was Pine Hills Country Club from Calhoun. Johnny Futch led the team with a two-under par 70. Scott Sills also shot under par on the day with a 71 and Dave Dubuy recorded an even-par round of 72. Nick Jungina rounded out the scoring with a 74. Other members of the Pine Hills team included Glenn Roscoe and Steve Sills. Gray Plantation (Lake Charles) and Ellendale Country Club finished in a tie for third place with a score of nine-under par. Members of the Gray Plantation team included: Neel DeRouen (76), Billy Gabbert (73), Phillip Hoffpauir (72), Bo Stewart (69), George Cestia (72), and John Gregory (71). Members of the Ellendale Country Club team included: Greg Crain (73), Brandon Henry (78), B.J. Antill (72), Brett Casey (75), Kevin Morvant (78), and Nick Terracina (72). The highlight of the day came from Glenn Roscoe who recorded a hole-in-one on the par-3 8th hole. Roscoe, from Pine Hills Country Club in Calhoun, knocked in an 8-iron from 172 yards. This year's championship drew 24 teams from across the state of Louisiana. Sunday's format consisted of individual stroke play. The team's total score for the final round was determined by the best four of the six individual scores. The first round consisted of four-ball stroke play with the total score consisting of two of the team's best three four-ball scores. Each six-man team in the Club Team Championship consists of six players. LGA Member Clubs have the option of putting together a team of one professional and five amateurs or six amateurs. The 2006 LGA Club Team Championship is being conducted at the Crace/Maxwell-designed Copper Mill Golf Club in Zachary, Louisiana. Featuring a layout of six par-5s, six par-4s, and six par-3s, the par-72 course measures just over 6,800 yards.
