Covington's Tommy Brennan birdied the first two playoff holes on Sunday to best Robby McWilliams of Bossier City in the 2005 LGA Mid-Amateur Championship at Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe. McWilliams had extended the playoff by running in a 20 foot birdie putt on #1. Brennan had already made birdie by tapping in a short putt after almost holing his second shot. Both players hit great second shots into the par 4 second hole, Brennan making his eight footer and watching as McWilliams's putt, to again extend the playoff, from seven feet skirted the hole. Both players finished 54 holes at seven-under par 209. This was Brennan's fourth Mid-Amateur title, having also won this event in 1995, 1996, and 1997.
