For Release: Upon Receipt Contact: Carr McCalla JOHNNY YODER WINS FIFTH ANNUAL LOUISIANA GOLF ASSOCIATION NET AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP IN 3-WAY PLAYOFF; LAKE CHARLES? PINE SHADOWS WINS NET CLUB TEAM TITLE Gonzales, Louisiana August 29, 2004 Johnny Yoder of Metairie shot a 2-under par score of 70 on Sunday and then outlasted Randy Indovina of Baton Rouge and Justin Doles of Bush in a 3-way 3 hole cumulative score playoff to win the Louisiana Golf Association Net Amateur Championship. Yoder, who carries a USGA Handicap Index of 10.6 and was tied for the lead after Saturday?s first round, finished with a 2 day total of 6 under par 138. Indovina (10.0 Index) shot his second consecutive 69 on Sunday and Doles (8.0 Index) had a 4-under 68 on Sunday to fashion their totals of 138 Yoder finished with a cumulative total of 13, while Indovina took 14 shots and Doles 18 shots on the stretch of #16, #17, and #18 that were utilized for the playoff. Finishing in fourth was Raymond Blank of St. Amant (16.0 Index) at 5-under par 139, with Isaac Rogers of Baton Rouge (10.0 Index) finishing in fifth at 4-under 140. This was the fifth annual Net Amateur Championship conducted by the LGA. The LGA is attempting to provide a true Championship event in which the higher handicap player can compete on an even playing field with the lower handicap player. The LGA utilized the USGA Exceptional Tournament Score Probability Table to adjust any handicap indexes where a player?s score exceeded normal probability. Four scores over the course of the Championship had to be adjusted. In addition to the Overall Net Championship, the field was divided into 4 flights with the top 3 finishers in each flight also receiving crystal awards. In the second annual Net Club Team Championship, conducted concurrently with the Net Am, the team from Pine Shadows GC in Lake Charles captured the title with a 36 hole Net score of 3-over par 435. Teammates Julius Courville, Carl LeMaire, Al Lyles, and Ricky Norwood bested 6 other clubs to take home the crystal trophy signifying the LGA?s Net Club Team Championship for 2004. This year?s Championship was conducted over the Links course at Pelican Point Golf Club in Gonzales, just southeast of Baton Rouge. It played to a par of 72 over approximately 6,600 yards. Sunday?s play was again conducted with overcast skies and hot and humid conditions. A light rain fell during much of the playoff. Flight winners are as follows: St. Andrews flight: 1.
